Thornton weekly report week ending 16th May

Tel: 01530 230807

Thornton returned a rod average of 2.9 for the week

A bit of a mixture this week, some anglers have caught on sinking lines with booby, orange tadpole, damsel patterns especially during the first half of the day with anglers fishing the afternoon session into the evening gaining success on the midge tip & floating lines with buzzers, crunchers & dries.

We are seeing an evening rise most evenings, however it can all happen in the last 40 minutes!

Some hawthorn about with the fish rising to them, main area for the hawthorn is along the stones & down past the lonesome pine.

Monday evening Peter Wurm caught 7 during the evening rise, on Tuesday Peter Wrigley fished buzzers during a morning session to catch 14, Adrian Freer fished an intermediate with buzzers for his mornings visit  catch of 5 trout , on Thursday Brian White fished a sinker in front of the dam to record 7 trout again during a morning session, on Saturday Andre Russell float tubed the morning with a size 14 grey buzzer fished static to catch 9 while Martin Clay fished black buzzers on a washing line to catch 12. J Bowmar & S Clay fished dries during the evening rise boating 5 trout. Mark Hunt found success with his midge tip by the orange buoy using crunchers to record 11 trout.

Some algae still to be seen in the water although it has started to clear over the weekend. Water temperature at 12 degrees, we should see a rise most evenings
