Weekly Report ending 7th September 2014

128 rods recorded 268 trout for the week for a rod average 2.1

Floating line was all that was required for most of the week with the near perfect weather conditions, light breeze with overcast spells ensured the trout fed off the surface with dries, cdc, suspender buzzer & shipmans buzzer producing best.

The afternoon and evening has generally fished best, P Shortland caught 3 for his late evening vist including a brown 3lb5oz all on a foam daddy, Clive Holt caught 5 on shipman’s, John Everett caught 5 on buzzers. During the week West Midlands Police visited Thornton for days fishing with many of them regulars at Draycote & Foremark but visiting us for the first time, two of those were Draycote members Graham Homer and A Butler who soon got to grips with Thornton’s trout catching 14 between them mainly on dries

Best areas are the Markfield arm, anglers report good numbers of fish moving in this area & the stone bank.

Anglers fishing on the drift are generally catching better than anglers sat on the anchor, this is notable during the evening rise.

Water clarity remains good.
