Thornton Weekly update week ending 13/05/13

113 rods caught 351 trout for rod average 3.1

Buzzers are on the trout’s menu with the fish feeding heavily on olive and black buzzers, as you would expect on the calmer evenings when the air temperature stays up we are getting an evening rise. Picture of the buzzers the trout are feeding on visit the gallery page at www.flyfishthornton.co.uk

Mr A Crone recorded the other week a rainbow weighing 8lb. This week Mick Glover recorded a 5lb rainbow, D Skudder 5lb8oz, J Kilby 5lb rainbow, B Cox 5lb8oz rainbow, P Wurm 9lb rainbow, N James 6lb8oz and his boat partner David Price 8lb3oz rainbow, J Graney and his boat partner D Burton both recorded rainbows of 5lb with Paul Denton retuning to fly fishing after a break of 3 years topping the big fish league with a rainbow of 10lb12oz taken on a dry daddy.

Our water clarity is excellent with our water temperature hovering at 12 degrees

Best area for bank anglers is opposite the lodge, wood bank corner and the farm bank.

Best area for boats in front of the wood, wood bank corner and green bay with the main basin worth a drift in the evening when the wind drops and the air temperature stays up.

Best patterns, buzzer olive or black size 12 and 14, diawl bach, damsel

Our last 4 hour permit  £10.00 1 fish kill+ catch & release with boat for £4.00 offers excellent value to fish the evening rise.
