Thornton Weekly report And Mid Week Update 03/05/13

With our other two reservoirs, Foremark & Draycote catching fish over 10lb last week, Thornton didn’t disappoint with Martin Owen taking a rainbow of 10lb4oz

Dennis Barnes caught a brace weighing 6lb7oz and 5lb4oz, with Mat Vickers taking a 6lb13oz with numerous fish reported weighing 3lb – 4lb

131 rods caught 570 trout for rod average 4.4 with a good percentage now falling to buzzers and diawl bach patterns.

Surprisingly for late April the shallows of the wood bank, Thornton arm and woodbank corner are still producing best, however on the warmer evening trout are starting to move across the main basin.

As we move into April our last 4 hour permit, 1 fish plus catch and release £10 and late evening boat permit at £4.00 offers great value, currently running from 4.30pm – 8.30pm

Thornton Update 03/05/13

Thornton continues to fish well and with a good forecast for the bank holiday we should continue to see our good sport continue.

Highlight of this week has been the good number of browns up to 2lb+ been recorded with the majority been returned. Member Tony Lorrimer recorded 12 browns to 2lb+ returning them all. These were fish stocked way back in January and are feeding well on the natural food.

Floating lines with damsel, diawl bach & buzzers are catching best with anglers starting to catch fish from other parts of the reservoir, with green bay & stone bank fishing well this week.

On the warmer evening we are starting to see an evening rise. Water temperature is starting to pick up this morning we recorded 11 degrees our water clarity is 6ft+

Our last 4 hour permit is from 4.30pm – 8.30pm full permit prices visit www.flyfishthornton.co.uk
