Thornton fishing report week ending 10/06/2012

Posted by & filed under Reports.

Another wet week but despite the heavy rainfall which has kept Thornton brimming full our water clarity is excellent.

The weather kept rods away this week for large chunks of the week with only 88 rods fishing they caught 167 trout for a 1.9 rod average.

Pin fry & damsel are about know but yet again this week on spooning fish daphnia was the number 1 food item, I have never seen so much daphnia in the water or the trout feeding on it for such a long period.

A mixed variety of methods caught fish this past week with a floating line & diawl bach, cruncher, buzzer and apps bloodworm to buzzers fished under an indicator. Intermediate lines with orange blobs & damsel patterns have also worked with a couple of anglers fishing on the drift with a fast sinking line & sparkler tubes catching well on the drift from the pontoon to the stones.
