Thornton Reservoir is situated 10 miles north of Leicester, and is only 4 miles from junction 22 of the M1. Follow the signs to Thornton village.

The reservoir was built in 1853 & is the oldest reservoir in Leicestershire. Its deepest point is 30ft located in front of the dam. We have good hatches of buzzers, damsels & sedges which bring the trout to the surface, ensuring good top of the water sport during late April, May & June & again during September, with the hawthorn & the daddy also putting in an appearance. The roach & perch fry provide us with the late season sport, as the trout gorge on the the Autumn bounty.
