Thornton Weekly Report

Week ending 16th September 2018

Tel 01530 230807

Rod average of 2.1

At last an improvement to the fishing at Thornton, with the fishing improving Friday onwards with the morning fishing best.

Friday morning C Sayer & M Cross caught 8 fishing buzzers and booby drifting from the main basin down into Markfield arm.

Saturday and again the morning session fished best, Jan Webber caught 10 on buzzer, Carl Bond 5 on buzzer with D Slessor catching 5. Stuart Thompson fished a short session from 1pm – 4pm and caught 4

On Sunday the morning fished best although the strengthening wind didn’t help, but again diawl bach and buzzers worked best

We are seeing some of the larger claret buzzers hatching and a few daddies, there are huge shoals of perch and roach fry all over the reservoir.

Water clarity is good

There is some uncertainty with the weather forecast for later on this week with the possibility of increasing wind speed as always we recommend contact the lodge for latest update 01530230807

The water level is down 7ft as STW have engineering works to be done to the overflow and spillway.
