Thornton Weekly Fishing Report Week Ending 21 Feb 2016

As our water clarity from the week before improved, our fishing improved as well with boat & bank anglers catching along the shallows opposite the lodge, along woodbank & down past the lonesome pine.

Floating & intermediate lines worked best with black & green, white & green tadpoles, cats whisker, apps bloodworm & diawl bach catching the majority of the trout.

Our rod average for the week was 3.4 with fish up to 4lb8oz recorded.

The best of the fishing is generally during the warmest part of the day 10.00am – 3.00pm with our surface water temperature at between 5 & 6 degrees most days.

If your coming to fish the bank we recommend you bring waders, there is no need to wade, however waders do allow you to get to the edge of the reeds which makes the casting easier, currently bank anglers on some days are enjoying the best of the sport.

With the trout running tight to the bank we would like to remind all anglers that boat anglers are required to give way to bank anglers, at Thornton boat anglers should keep 40yds away from any bank angler.
