Thornton Weekly update week ending  4th August

These past 3 weeks with its heat wave which at times pushed the surface water temperature to above 22 degrees as understandably took its toll on the fishing, however these last few days and the cooler forecast for this week has enabled us to stock which should improve the fishing.

This morning our surface water temperature is at a much better 18.5degrees with water clarity excellent.

During the past week the morning session has fished best with anglers concentrating their efforts to the deeper water in front of the dam, green bay and small orange buoy using either a floating line with long, long leaders 25ft+ or a fast sinking line and booby.

This morning (Monday) with a much cooler air temperature & heavy rain we have seen a number of trout moving through the wave especially in front of the dam & green bay.

With an improving forecast for the fishing we should see sport improve this week.

Our last four hours fishing 1 fish kill + Catch & Release £10 and a rowing boat £4.00 offers great value.
