Thornton Weekly report week ending 02/09/12

Last week 110 rods caught 198 trout for rod average 1.8 with the morning continuing to fish best.

During the past week the area fishing best has altered from being in front of the lodge Thornton arm to the main dam into green bay & the large orange buoy area producing best with the daddy proving to be the top pattern especially during any warm overcast periods.

This warmer spell of weather has encouraged the damsels with good numbers of them to be seen on the water this past week.

Andy Burton fished the dam wall – green bay area & caught trout weighing 3ln & 4lb on a daddy, A. Lawson caught 6 trout to 5lb on daddy, sedge & damsel, Jack Hives fished a morning session recording 4 trout to 4lb, Ben Lamb fished hares ear, olive emergers & buzzers to take his 6 fish to 4lb12oz

Mornings continue to be the most productive time of the day to fish, although traditionally during September we can expect some good evening sport to buzzers & sedges.

Water level remains full with clarity good
